Feeding Guide
- Introduce pellets within the first week, while feeding liquid milk.
- Commence with small daily amounts (up to 500g/calf/day), removing any uneaten feed from the previous day and ensure fresh supply daily.
- Continue to feed to appetite, and when intake on 3 consecutive days exceeds 2.0kg per calf per day, weaning off milk can commence - at 50-60 days of age.
- Introduce a free-choice roughage source (conserved forage, straw etc) within the first week to encourage rumen volume and muscle tone development and encourage salivation and leave it available. Ensure potable water is available at all times.
