The dollar was mixed in N.Y. trade on Wednesday, trading largely sideways against the euro into Thursday’s ECB meeting, while losing modest ground to the yen. Cable squandered its morning gains, while USD-CAD was choppy on the back of the BoC policy announcement and gyrations in oil prices. U.S. housing starts were softer than expected, though had little impact on the dollar. Wall Street managed moderate gains on firmer oil prices, and decent incoming earnings reports.
