US Equity and Economic Review: Don't Worry About the Weak 1Q GDP Number Just Yet

     On Friday, the BEA released the advanced report of 1Q GDP, which was a disappointing .7%.  However, this continues this expansion’s trend of weak 1Q numbers.  Since 2010, the average Q/Q GDP growth rate has been 1% while the median rate is 1.3%.  Several Federal Reserve governors and presidents have discussed this seasonality problem throughout the recovery, although no one has offered a convincing explanation.
