Protein Meals & Ingredients
Protein meals can be used to form a balanced diet for many animals. An animal nutritionist should always be consulted to formulate or assess any diet you wish to feed.
Soybeans are grown in Australia for seed production for oil extraction and protein meal production.
In oil extraction, soybeans undergo a solvent extraction process to produce the meal. The meal is an excellent source of protein for pigs, horses, ruminants and poultry.
Soybean meal is a good source of all the essential amino acids as well as a reasonable energy source. Australia also currently imports soybean meal from the USA. Soybean meal processed in Australia is pre-press solvent extracted meal or expeller extracted. Soybean meal from the USA is solvent extracted.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
- Soybean meal can be used in the diets of pigs and poultry, cattle, sheep and horses of all ages.
- While raw soybean does contain a trypsin inhibitor, this is destroyed in the processing. If the trypsin inhibitor is not destroyed, there will be reduced digestion of the protein and growth can suffer.
