NVLX Wodonga sale 20 Dec 2016: Bidding dearer as 2016 draws to close

It was a smaller yarding for the last sale of the year at NVLX Wodonga with agents penning just on 500 cattle. Bidding for young cattle was generally dearer ending the run of softer prices. Vealers were again a highlight with prices hitting 372.6c/kg. The general run of vealers sold from 312c-361c/kg. The approaching holiday abattoir closures strengthened yearling trade prices 1-4c/kg. There were only limited numbers of yearling steers 400-500kg which sold to the trade and, the better finished steers made from 310-315c with a single isolated sale of supplementary fed steers making 345c/kg.
