Grain groups not confident APVMA relocation will benefit

AUSTRALIA’S national agvet chemical regulator, the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA), will open its office in Armidale in northern NSW next March. It follows the government sign-off to relocate the Authority from Canberra, a move that is contrary to the preferences of farmer organisations NFF,  GrainGrowers Ltd and Grain Producers Australia. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Agriculture and Water Resources, Barnaby Joyce, said the move was part of a wider decentralisation strategy towards regional presence of agricultural agencies.
